Helping the communities we call home

Community

This Giving Tuesday, we’re reflecting on our ongoing commitment to give back to our hometown communities, the places where our employees live and work. These communities need help more than ever, as we all adapt to and manage both the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Giving back in response to the pandemic

Since March, we have contributed over $8 million in financial support and food to organizations in 33 Campbell communities. Our support began early on in the pandemic, when we made an initial commitment to support local organizations as they manage the crisis. With so many in need across North America, that contribution continues.

Through employee donations and a match from the Campbell Soup Foundation, our employees gave back by raising more than $36,000 through our COVID-19 Community Response Fund. These funds supported the impactful work of the CDC Foundation, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Feeding America and Convoy of Hope.

Providing disaster relief

Beyond the pandemic, 2020 has been one of the most active hurricane seasons on record. We provided financial and product donation support totaling more than $150,000 to-date to our partners at the American Red Cross, Convoy of Hope and Feeding America to assist with immediate relief efforts in areas hard-hit by this season’s storms.

In response to the wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington, we activated our Emergency Assistance Foundation Immediate Response Program to help employees impacted by the wildfires. All donations were matched by the Campbell Soup Foundation.

Supporting social justice organizations

Earlier this year, we pledged financial support to organizations that raise awareness, advance education and equity, promote social justice, and fight racism and discrimination. We started by making a $400,000 contribution to the Equal Justice Initiative and $100,000 to the Boris L. Henson Foundation.

To-date, we’ve created funds benefiting organizations most important to our employee resource groups through a Black Resource Group Social Justice Fund, Latino Network Social Justice Fund and Veterans Connection Fund.

Launching COVID-19 Community Recovery Grants

This year, we are directing all of the Campbell Soup Foundation’s grantmaking to COVID-19 relief and recovery. Our COVID-19 Community Recovery Grants program is open to any eligible nonprofit in one of our communities with alignment to our mission and focus areas around increasing healthy food access, encouraging healthy living and nurturing Campbell neighborhoods. Learn more about our grant programs and see our grant guidelines to apply.

The many ways our people give back

Earlier this year, we shared the many creative ways our employees were giving back, and helping those in need in their own neighborhoods.

Our employees continue to do so this holiday season, like in Ashland, Ohio, the home of one of our Campbell Snacks locations. Many of our teammates in Ashland made the Thanksgiving holiday brighter for local families by donating turkeys that were originally gifted to them by the company. The recipient, Associated Charities, was extremely grateful for the donation of 720 pounds of turkeys as they had just exhausted their supply for local residents in need.

Our Annual Employee Giving Campaign

Giving Tuesday kicks off our annual Employee Giving Campaign, encouraging employees to give back to the causes most important to them. There are three ways for our employees to contribute:

Making a difference that matters—from home!

As part of our Employee Giving Campaign, we’re partnering with We Hero for three remote volunteer projects that our team can participate in from home.
