Plate of Mind: A NEW Campbell’s Kitchen App that Feeds Consumer Moods

News

Campbell recognizes that consumers’ emotions influence the foods they choose to cook.  The new Campbell’s Kitchen Plate of Mind SM mobile app provides users with meal ideas based on their moods.  Plate of Mind awakens your deepest foodie feelings without all that pesky soul-searching. The app uses over 3,000 recipes from CampbellsKitchen.com and suggests a recipe based on your mood.

Now available in the iTunes app store and Google Play store, Plate of Mind SM differs from other recipe applications by providing meal ideas that align with nine moods: blue, hungry, delighted, exhausted, busy, sick, creative, festive and indecisive.  When using the app, the consumer simply chooses the icon that best represents their current mood and Plate of Mind serves up one delicious recipe idea at a time. “Campbell’s is adapting to the rapid growth in digital technology by creating innovative cooking solutions for mobile consumers,” said Zach Barkus, manager of Mobile and Emerging Media at Campbell Soup Company. “Plate of Mind TM is one way the company provides home cooks value and convenience when searching for recipe inspiration on the go.”

The app is a result of the Campbell’s Hack the Kitchen contest which took place in March 2013 where developers were asked to create a recipe application for web, mobile and tablet devices.  Out of 150 entries, six finalists were selected to present their app idea to a panel of judges at Google in New York City.  Pollinate Inc., a team of 12 developers, was chosen as the winning team. Pollinate Inc. received a $25,000 prize and a $25,000 contract to create Plate of Mind SM.
