Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J., June 7, 2016 – The Campbell Soup Foundation today announced the election of Kim Fremont Fortunato, Campbell’s Director, Community Affairs, as its new President.

Since 1953, the Campbell Soup Foundation has provided financial support to communities throughout the U.S. where Campbell employees live and work. Each year, the Foundation donates more than $1.5 million to a variety of organizations that focus on community well-being, youth empowerment and economic sustainability programming to support the development of healthy communities.

Fortunato is the first female president of the Campbell Soup Foundation. She joined Campbell in 2010 as Director of Campbell’s Healthy Communities. In her current role as Director, Community Affairs, Fortunato is responsible for Campbell’s enterprise-wide community affairs strategy, including employee volunteerism, Campbell’s Healthy Communities and philanthropy. She is based at Campbell’s World Headquarters in Camden and reports to Anthony Sanzio, Vice President, Global Communications. Sanzio is also a trustee of the Foundation.

Previously, Fortunato led Campbell’s Healthy Communities program, which was launched in 2011 to improve the health of young people in Campbell communities by reducing childhood obesity and hunger. Started in Camden, N.J., the program has grown to include four other locations where Campbell has U.S. operations: Norwalk, Conn; Henry County, Ohio; Everett, Wash.; and metro Detroit, Mich.

Fortunato has more than 20 years of experience in philanthropy, social change and nonprofit leadership. Before joining Campbell, she served as President of Operation Warm, Inc., growing the regional nonprofit to a national player. She also co-founded Social Venture Partners Delaware, a venture philanthropy organization focused on investments in early childhood education for at-risk children. She began her career as a lawyer.

In 2012, Fortunato was named one of the “Best Fifty Women in Business” by NJBIZ and received the 2012 United Way of Camden County Dr. Nathan Asbell Humanitarian Award. In 2015, she received the first “Culture of Health Champion” award, in the category of “Business,” from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She was recently named one of Town & Country’s Top 50 Philanthropists of 2016.

Fortunato earned her Bachelor of Arts in French and comparative literature from Duke University, and her juris doctor from Widener University School of Law. She serves as Secretary to the Rodel Foundation-Delaware and Director for the New Jersey Preventive Health Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Camden Food Security Advisory Board and the Google Food Lab.
