Pace(R) Specialty Salsas Score in Awards Competition

Press Releases

Pace Salsa Verde, Pineapple Mango Chipotle and Tequila Lime Take Home Six 2009 Scovie AwardsPARIS, Texas, Nov 21, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Pace specialty salsas scored six awards in the National Fiery
Foods & Barbecue Show’s 2009 “Scovie” Awards Competition, one of the
most competitive and recognized gourmet food award competitions in the
country for salsas, hot sauces, and barbecue sauces. The Scovie Award
wins closely follow the three “Golden Chile” Awards earned by the Pace
brand in September at the 2009 Fiery Food Challenge, sponsored by Chile
Pepper magazine.

“It’s great to see a mainstream salsa company like Pace making
specialty salsas that are so good they’re winning awards,” said Dave
DeWitt, Founder, National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show and Scovie Awards
Competition. “Pace is definitely broadening their reach into more
segments and reaching more salsa lovers around the country.”

Pace Foods’ specialty salsa line includes Pace Salsa Verde, Pace
Pico de Gallo, Pace Mexican Four Cheese Con Queso, Pace
Triple Pepper salsa, Pace Tequila Lime salsa, Pace
Pineapple Mango Chipotle salsa, and Pace Black Bean & Roasted
Corn salsa.

Pace 2009 Scovie Award Wins

Pace cornered the “Tomatillo” Salsa category, taking home a coveted
first place Scovie award for Pace Salsa Verde, and a second place
for Pace Tequila Lime salsa.

Pace Tequila Lime salsa showed its versatility and popularity
with a second place award in the “Unique Salsa” category, and a third
place in the “Mild / Medium” heat-level salsa category — taking home
three Scovie awards in all.

Pace Pineapple Mango Chipotle salsa, one of the brand’s two most
recent additions to its specialty salsa lineup, took a third place in
both the “Fruit” salsa and “Chipotle” salsa categories.

“We are extremely pleased to be honored with the Scovie Award wins for
three of our specialty salsa varieties,” said Pace Brand Manager
Eric Shultz. “For over 60 years, the Pace brand has put the same
care and craftsmanship into every Picante sauce or salsa we make. The
fact that these new specialty salsas continue to garner awards reflects
the passion of our employees and their enduring commitment to quality.”

The Scovie Awards Competition is sponsored by Fiery Foods & Barbecue magazine
in conjunction with The National Fiery-Foods & Barbecue Show,
now in its 21st year, and entries are judged by a blind
taste-test. In this year’s competition, professional judges evaluated
more than 700 entries of sauces, salsas and other spicy treats and
awarded first, second and third prizes in each category. The National
Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show will be held February 27 — March 1, 2009 in
Albuquerque, NM.
